The Corralitos Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new members who want to serve and
give back to the community. If you are at least 18 years old, we invite you to share your
talents and a little bit of your time with us by becoming a volunteer firefighter.
No experience necessary! Bring a willingness to learn and we’ll provide all the training and
equipment you’ll need. Before long you’ll be helping your neighbors when they need help the
most.
ABOUT VOLUNTEERING
Pride, excitement, challenge. Volunteering for fire and rescue service offers committed individuals the opportunity to
experience one of the most diverse and challenging professions today. The emergency services provided by the
seventeen independent volunteer companies include providing prompt medical care and transport, fire suppression,
vehicle extrication (“jaws of life”), water rescues and other types of specialty rescues, and responding to other 911
dispatched calls. It’s exciting, exhilarating and rewarding!
The personal rewards and satisfaction each of us receives from volunteer service are often beyond description. The sense
of accomplishment after controlling a building fire, the joy and elation when a child is born, the compassion for accident
victims, the fulfillment of teaching fire safety and prevention—the list goes on.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Persons interested in volunteering should contact the department by submitting an interest card or emailing to the
address noted. Candidates attend two to three trainings to determine if volunteering is a good fit for them. A formal
application may then be submitted, and if approved, the candidate is requested to submit to a medical examination.
Once completed, the firefighter starts their training. Training consists of 240 hours the first year of initial training which
includes medical, hazardous materials, and academies for structure and wildland fires. Only after initial training is
completed may a firefighter respond to emergencies, typically after 9 months to 1 year.
For more information:
Email admin@corralitosfire.com or come by the fire station and fill out an interest card. The Corralitos Volunteer Fire
Department trains on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. Please come 15 minutes early so you can
speak with the new volunteer liaison.
We are currently not accepting applications at this time but we are still taking interest cards for a Fall 2009 recruitment.
